It’s definitely the closest I’ve found, and it does help with the ritual. However, I’m really missing the smell of bourbon, and the color. So, I made my own caramel coloring, added cloves, cinnamon, citrus, and bitters. It’s much closer now! It is good as a sour, and pretty good as an old fashioned aside from the above.

It’s a great one to have in the rotation. Used to having a bit heavier mouth feel - this is a bit thin in my opinion (I know it’s a tough task to create a NA version). Like it Neat and with a mix. Keep it up. Paul USMC 78-82.

This is by far one of the best bourbons that I have tried and I have tried many.
Delicious non alcoholic drink.
This order contained my second and third bottles. I like this as a substitute for my daily ritual of whiskey. Its not the same, but its similar in nature and it works for me as I try to cut back on alcohol consumption. You need to figure out how to add some smoke to simulate a peated whisky. :-)

It's OK. Unfortunately there just isn't anything that is non-alcoholic that compares to the real bourbon/whiskey. Not a knock on these guys, it's just a fact. If someone could mirror the taste/burn of real bourbon/whiskey the way Athletic has mirrored real beer, I would be a buyer.
First the positives:
1. Great shipping - arrived early and in great shape. Nice boxing.
2. Nice nose, smells like a good whiskey.
3. Simulates the burn of a good whiskey when tasted neat.
The negatives:
1. Cloudy, even after gently mixing.
2. Color was pale…not even close to that of a good whiskey
3. Too sweet…like Canadian blend from a duty free as opposed to a real American whiskey or bourbon
4. Taste - better but not there to drink neat. 50/50 with a real whiskey or bourbon is good.
Not sure if I will purchase again but a good experiment.

Probably the best whisky alternative I've ever tried. And I've tried a lot of them. Most taste like someone shouted "whisky" at a glass of iced tea. This actually tastes like a spirit.
This review will probably not be posted after I tell you where I found an excellent use. I used a 1/2 cup of no.86 as part of a marinade for a slab of ribs. Yeup you read that correctly. Marinaded over night along with a honey barbecue liquid. Whatever is in the no.86 brings a little of the “burn” to the ribs. They were delicious and there were no leftovers. A sip of no.86 from time to time in the evening before bedtime is very nice as well.
There simply is nothing that can replace a quality bourbon or aged rum. That being said I have tried several other brands on non-alcoholic liquors and they were all terrible. No. 86 is tolerable, the bite gives it a lil something, and the back side is nice. The upfront is way off. All and all its the best substitute I have found so far.
This is a VERY satisfying NA bourbon/whiskey substitute. Mix it with Diet Pepsi for my evening cocktail or two.
I have tried maybe 5 products before this. 100+ days sober and I crave the routine more than the substance. This is my favorite substitute for bourbon so far.
I poured over 2 ice cubes and enjoyed it chilled. It tastes great and has a similar mouth feel to bourbon after going down. This may be my "go-to" from now on.

It’s good. I don’t love it. It really doesn’t have the burn like I thought it would. I’m exploring all kinds of nonalcoholic beverages. I don’t think I’ll buy 86 again. I’m sure other people love it.
